2025 & 2026 Area 1 Most Outstanding Unit, Distinguished Unit
The Notre Dame NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) program provides students with a challenging and rewarding experience designed to develop leadership, responsibility, self-discipline, confidence, teamwork, and respect for others. The program is built around the Navy’s Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment and prepares cadets with skills that will benefit them throughout high school, college, their careers, and life. Notre Dame NJROTC is open to students in grades 8 through 12 who are looking for an opportunity to challenge themselves, develop leadership skills, serve their community, and become part of a successful team. There is no military obligation associated with participating in NJROTC. The program’s primary goal is to help students become better citizens and prepare them for future success. Cadets have the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive and extracurricular teams, including the Drill Team, Academic Team, Air Rifle Team, CyberPatriot Team, Drone Team, Physical Training (PT) Team, Color Guard, and other leadership and competitive activities. These opportunities allow cadets to build confidence, develop teamwork, compete against other NJROTC units, and represent Notre Dame throughout the local community and beyond. Community service is also an important part of the Notre Dame NJROTC experience. Cadets regularly participate in parades, patriotic ceremonies, community clean-up projects, color guards, beautification projects, veterans’ events, and other service activities. Through these experiences, cadets learn the importance of giving back, serving others, and taking pride in their school and community. The Notre Dame NJROTC unit has continued to grow and achieve a high level of success. The unit has earned the prestigious designation of Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors for 11 consecutive years and two consecutive years of being the Area 1 Most Outstanding Unit, reflecting the dedication, hard work, academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement of our cadets. Notre Dame NJROTC is more than just another class—it is an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, challenge themselves, serve their community, and prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Whether a cadet plans to attend college, enter the workforce, pursue a trade, or serve in the military, NJROTC provides valuable experiences and skills that can help prepare them for success.
